New StudentThis class serves as a welcome/introduction to our school, system, classes and to the essentials of good fundamental social dancing. New students (anyone having fewer than ten private lessons) should attend this class, before attending any other. The Arthur Murray Interrelated System is used to introduce the most basic and popular Social Dances. Basic SocialThis class should be attended by students that have been to at least to New Student Classes and are enrolled on a Foundation Program, Bronze I Planned Program or a Bronze II / Associate Bronze Planned Program. It is also optional to any other Medalist Program student. We highlight interrelated patterns, combinations, lead and follow and timing in Waltz, Swing, Rumba, Foxtrot, Cha Cha and Tango. In many classes we will also add Samba, Merengue, Mambo, Hustle, Social Bolero, Salsa, Argentine Tango and Viennese Waltz. Style & Technique Students on any Medal Program (Assoc. Bronze and above) are encouraged to attend this class. Teachers will introduce basic style and dance technique as well as teaching how to adjust dances to different tempos of music. Each class will also include instruction on how to determine which dances go best with different types of music, music recognition and partner adaptability. All social dances may be covered in these classes and usually presented in Associate (II) or Full Bronze levels. Amalgamations All students eligible for the Style and Technique class may also attend this one. (If in doubt ask your teacher). This class will introduce and develop groupings of pattern components, patters and/or variations to be practiced and danced in predetermined sequences. This allows greater flexibility, enhanced appearance and better retention in the use of your patterns. All the popular social dances on our Bronze Curriculum are dealt with in Associate or Full Levels. Dance of the week All students are encouraged to attend this one. One dance, usually associated with parties and fun, is featured each week. A special sequence of that dance is taught and practised with a variety of partners and later danced at a scheduled time during our Dance Practice (Party). This is intended to add to your variety and enjoyment of social dancing with material or dances outsdie of our regular curriculum. This will be a lot of fun for everyone. DON’T MISS THIS ONE!!! |
